Brainspotting is a powerful, focused treatment method that works by identifying, processing and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of other challenging symptoms. It was developed in 2003 by David Grand, Ph.D.

What is brainspotting?

It was developed to allow therapists to be flexible with their approach to find the right iteration for each client.

Brainspotting is Adaptable

Clients can talk as much or as little as they want.

Brainspotting is Nonverbal

It can help rewire the brain to make more positive associations and feelings.

Brainspotting can help Rewire the Brain

It can help access the deeper causes that influence impulsivity, inattention, or hyperactivity.

how brainspotting works

It works through using brain eye reflexes (brainspots) in your line of vision, with focused mindfulness, enhanced with biolateral sound to identify, process and release sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of other challenging symptoms.

  • Scanning the visual field to locate a "brainspot" which is a brain eye reflex
  • Using your eyes to focus on the identified brainspot the therapist has “bookmarked” with a teachers pointer
  • Finding awareness to your bodily sensations
  • Processing negative emotions
  • Stimulating memories, thoughts, and viewpoints
  • There a variety of set ups and frameworks based on the individual clients needs and response to brainspotting.

If you have ever experienced a sense of stuckness in therapy or feeling that the typical 1 hour a week session is time limiting, or you would like to do deep focused work to find quicker relief then an intensive session may be for you.

Brainspotting Intensives allow for a half day to 1-3 day long focused deep work on a presenting issue or concern. Brainspotting utilizes your line of sight as an access point to your deeper brain workings (such as your lymbic system) as well as bilateral sound to enhance and direct the identification, processing and releasing of core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of other challenging symptoms.

It allows you if you have limited time in Dallas to work with me directly.

We try so hard to not feel something that is unpleasant or overwhelming and the next thing we know we have created an entirely new set of feelings and usually unhelpful experiences. The paradigm is when we embrace those feelings we were trying to not feel in the first place is when we actually can begin to move through them and let go. Therapy is that vehicle that we can use to get there: to that place where we can feel our feelings, move through them, and keep living that life we desire.

A therapy intensive is a concentrated period of therapy sessions, often occurring over a few days or weeks. These sessions are typically more frequent and in-depth than traditional weekly sessions.

What is a therapy intensive?

Rapid Progress
Intensives can provide significant progress in a shorter timeframe.

Focused Attention
Clients receive dedicated attention from their therapist, allowing for deeper exploration of issues.

Structured Environment
The intensive setting can offer a supportive and structured environment conducive to healing.

Ideal for Specific Needs
Intensives are often beneficial for individuals with complex issues, those seeking rapid symptom relief, or those who have difficulty committing to long-term therapy.

Why consider a therapy intensive?

If you are seeking a more intensive approach to therapy, struggling with a particular issue, or looking for a concentrated period of healing, a therapy intensive may be a good option. A therapy intensive is not designed for someone in active crisis.
